We know we’re only as strong as the communities we operate in, so our sponsorship approach is to ensure we bring meaningful and lasting benefits to these areas. We do this by supporting local needs and encouraging community self-reliance through education and service support.
We are pleased to support a wide variety of community events, organisations and clubs through financial sponsorships. Our Community Support Program focuses on areas that reflect who we are: health and safety, youth education and training, and the environment.
Some of the many community groups, events and initiatives we support include the North Queensland Cowboys, JCU fire, Run Townsville, Burdekin Water Festival, Home Hill Harvest Festival, The Australian-Italian Festival, Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships, Sarina Festival, School Chaplaincy programs, Relay for Life, Show Whitsunday and Men’s Sheds.
We encourage our employees to become physically involved in many of the events we sponsor. This has seen our employees participate in corporate triathlons and tree plantings, hold fundraising morning teas and sausage sizzles, and help run free steam train rides for festivals.
In addition to financial support, our people provide in-kind services for a variety of events every year, from judging agricultural competitions to providing trainers at workshops and PR support at major events. Away from work, many of our employees are active community participants – stepping up to take on leadership roles for various clubs, organisations and event planning committees.
When assessing sponsorship applications, priority will be given to events, programs or activities which will make a positive contribution to one or more of the following areas:
• Community health and safety
• Skills, education and training (with a particular focus on youth)
• Assisting youth (includes junior sport and cultural activities)
