Executive General Manager North Queensland
John has worked in range of commercial, factory management, cane supply and general management roles during a long sugar industry career. Prior to his appointment as Executive General Manager North Queensland, John was General Manager Cane Supply and Grower Relations. John is Chairman of the Australian Sugar Industry Alliance, Deputy Chairman of the Australian Sugar Milling Council, and a former Chairman of Sugar Research Limited.
General Manager Operations
Appointed to the role of General Manager Operations in April 2012, Mike is responsible for the operational performance of Wilmar's eight sugar mills. Mike has extensive experience at running multiple complex sites, grower relationship management and lean manufacturing practices. He has previously worked in operational roles in a range of agricultural industries, including companies such as Sunrice, Heinz and Colgate Palmolive.
General Manager Agriculture
Ian has 20 years’ experience in the sugar industry, 10 of which have been with Wilmar Sugar. He joined the company (then CSR Sugar) in 2004 as Commercial Manager, before moving into his current role as GM Agriculture. Ian is responsible for overseeing management of Wilmar Sugar’s Australian sugarcane farms, is director of four regional productivity boards and Australian Molasses Trading, and co-ordinates the agricultural technical input required for Wilmar’s overseas sugar ventures. Ian has previously held roles with Bundaberg Sugar, rural lender QIDC and Queensland Cotton.
Dave has worked in a variety of roles since joining the business in 2000. These have included Site Operations Manager, Burdekin HR and Safety Manager and Burdekin Cane Supply and Transport Manager. Dave left the business early in 2008 to take up a role as Health, Safety and Services Manager at Incitec Pivot’s Phosphate Hill operations. He returned to Wilmar Sugar in May 2012 to fill the position of Safety Manager.
General Manager Procurement
Responsible for Wilmar Sugar’s procurement, purchasing and supply departments, Rohan has been with the business since 2010. With bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics, as well as an MBA, Rohan has spread his career between engineering and commercial roles. His previous positions include various engineering roles on port and mining projects for Rio Tinto and Bechtel, a commercial role with Ansett’s aviation engineering business unit and 10 years with Fosters in various procurement roles.
General Manager Human Resources
As Head of Human Resources, Darsha is responsible for managing the full range of people-related matters across the milling business. Darsha is a registered psychologist, with post graduate qualifications from the University of Sydney in Labour Law, Labour Relations and Coaching, supplemented with more than 20 years’ experience in HR. This experience has been gained locally and overseas, and spans a range of industries and companies including Sony, MMEM, ANZ Bank and Barclays Bank.
General Manager Cane Supply & Grower Relations
Paul has an extensive knowledge of the sugar industry, gained over his 30 years with the business. He has primarily filled roles within the area of cane supply and transport, working closely with cane growers to foster a positive relationship between grower and miller. Before taking on the role of GM Cane Supply and Grower Relations in 2013, Paul was most recently the Burdekin Cane Supply Manager. He has also previously filled Cane Supply Manager roles in both the Herbert and Plane Creek regions
General Manager Engineering
Appointed to the role of General Manager Engineering in May 2014, Russell is responsible for Group Engineering across Wilmar's eight sugar mills. Russell has worked in a variety of roles across the Burdekin and Herbert regions, including Engineering Manager, Site Manager and Regional Operations Manager. He enjoys working with people and is up for a challenge.
